How To Create The BEST Working

Relationship With Your Agent

How to create the best relationship with your agent

Working with any professional, whether it be a real estate agent, landscape contractor, or even your hair dresser, you want to build a solid, trusting, mutual relationship of respect and understanding. After all, the professionals are there to help to the best of their ability, to mitigate any stress, delays, or surprises along the way. But without a good working relationship, you run the risk of misunderstandings, stress, and a plethora of other issues.

When it comes to your real estate agent, whether you’re buying, selling, or both, you’re putting your home, money, and trust in their hands, and you need the process to go as smooth and as successfully as possible. Creating an ideal working relationship with your agent is an important step toward making that happen.

Where do you begin?

  1. Get clear on the process

First, ask your agent to go over the process with you. If you're selling your home, you want to understand all the steps involved, what your agent is going to do, and what your role is. That way, you’re always in the loop, and there will be fewer surprises.

You also want to discuss showings: what you can expect, how and when they’ll be handled, and whether or not you’ll be using lockboxes for access for when you’re not home.

  1. Ask and you shall know

You have questions, your agent has answers. Don’t be afraid to ask anything, even if you're worried about sounding naive. Chances are, the same questions have been asked a hundred times, and your agent is more than willing to walk you through them. Your concerns are also your agent’s concerns.

  1. Be open-minded and patient

Keep in mind that misunderstandings and mistakes can happen in any relationship with a professional. So if an issue does come up, discuss it without hesitation, in a calm and professional manner. Don't let it fester.

  1. You deserve the BEST

You need a professional you can trust and rely on, like me. Someone with expertise in buying and selling in this market. When I make recommendations regarding pricing, prepping your home, viewings, or anything else, remember that I am working in your best interest. I want to sell your property for the best price possible, and I want to help you find your next home as easily and as hassle free as you do!
